OML ON BUTTON WITHIN MENU FORM

Hi Dataease,

Have quite a few Menus within the application, just tried to put an OML on a button, OML greyed out, only Action available. OML available on all other buttons that are used within the application, just not those placed within a Menu type form, any help please.

Re:OML ON BUTTON WITHIN MENU FORM

The problem I guess is that OML was never activated on Menus.

Menus were removed from DataEase in 7.x as the "logic" were that you could simply use forms instead. This may well be true but the fact that this was said but no attempt on migrating menus to forms was done it left applications hanging.

This is why Menus were re-introduced in 8.1.

Menus have some peculiar features left over from DFD like chaining etc.

Menus was only re-introduced to allow migrated apps to work out of the box but no further effort - besides allowing virtual fields etc - was done as it is better to use a form than a menu as a menu ;-)

We can't see there being any reason why OML shouldn't be allowed on Menus so why they chose to not allow it in 6.x (see above) is a mystery but most likely they had even then decided that it was better to use Forms as menus.
