DataEase 126.96.36.1990 - RecordSave("Silent") - Background Save of Changes with no Visual impact.
DataEase has a tendency to do a lot more than you want to in one function and part of the 8.x program is to give the power back to the developer.
In 8.x we have introduced a lot of new features that "stress" the old paradigm of DataEase.
When a DataEase form was only a couple of small fields and derivations could only be triggered by passing over the fields or saving it was quite useful that Saving/Updating updated the entire screen.
However when you work with complex "documents" in HTMLEdit or are 50 lines down a Subform and simply want to save the changes in case the electricity goes on the blink it is seriously annoying to have to find where you where by scrolling down etc, simply because you wanted to save your changes.
No longer so! Now you can use the "Silent" option on RecrordSave("Silent").
We know it might be "prodding and open wound" when we advertise new features that you cannot test or play with yourself yet, but there is a good reason for this.
We produce the information for "posterity" and simply not to forget new features we put them on the blog immediately upon "releasing" them.
At the moment we DataEase 8.5 is undergoing so much work that we are not comfortable about releasing a slip-stream until we have completed this work and tested it all properly.
