The Documentation for 8.0 and 8.1 is generated in a DE8.x application. This application will be added as a sample app to DE 8.x and will include the ability to generated a printable documentation.

Re:Re:Re:Manual DataEase 8 - printable format -

When this application will be added to DataEase 8?

I simply need those documentations (also in PDF format), already provided only for 7.2 version :

DataEase Windows Help

Designer's Guide

DQL Programmer's Guide

OML Programmer's Guide

In the meantime you can delivered the documentation also by email.

Thanks

Dear Marco.

We are by "popular demand" currently compiling a pre-release manual for DE8.1 called What is new in DE 8.1. This in combination with the 7.2 manuals will cover the product until we update the remainder of the documentation. We plan to have this out in may.

Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Manual DataEase 8 - printable format -

I am sorry for the delay, as we are sorry for all delays.

Developing product like DataEase takes a lot of resources and is a rather complex business. Any date we give will always have to be indicative and is rather our ambition than a finite date.

We constantly plan and re-plan our focus and resources to achieve the best over all result, and that means that things will be delayed.

The more "astute" of our readers will have noted that DE Reporter is advertised with release in August 2013 and has not been updated. This is because this was our original plan and in hindsight we shouldn't have advertised it at all. In the meantime we have put more resources into the development of DE8 itself, so DE8 Reporter has been delayed.

As a result of this we have now fixed reporting in DE8 including DQL layout etc, which has been a constant nightmare since release 20 years ago. We had initially decided not to look into this part of the product, but as things progress and DE8 turned out a much better product that initially envisioned, we decided to complete it before dedicating resources to the supporting products.

DE8 reporter is now back fully on the development schedule, but as we learn from our mistakes we will  not advertise a new date for its release.

The printable documentation will be a result of us completing/updating the online documentation of DE8. This too has been delayed as we need to see the full scope of DE8 developed before this is finally updated.

We are the first to regret that the amazing new qualities of DE8 is not fully utilised by most users due to the lack of documentation, and we will work to fix that over the coming year. However we are a fast growing company with limited resources, so we need to look after where and when we spend our time.

Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Manual DataEase 8 - printable format -

Have you any news about the possibility to obtain a printable documentation of DataEase? At this time I expect a complete documentation of version 8.5  in printable format but also on your site. (There's only a documantation of 7.2 only and this version is outdated!) A complete documentation should permit to use DataEase in more efficient way.
