Summary Value Displayed Multiple Times in DE8.5

Download: SummaryIssue.zip

This is in version 8.5.

When you print something like this;

for AddressBook ;

list records
Amt : mean count .

This prints multiple pages.

But, if you change the script to something like this;

for AddressBook ;

list records
Amt : item mean count .

It works fine.

But, I don't want to see the items. Just the summary part. How can this be done? I am attaching a sample database too.

Download Sample!

Most likely a bug. To bad ;-)

I think it is time you accept that there is a reason why this thing is being scrapped... You keep on figuring out, but I promise this is the last reply I will give on bugs in the old DQL implementation.

The BODY on the OLD DQL is absolute not logical like DFD and ExecDQL, so you need to have the items in the DQL etc.  The problem is that it is linked on binary level so even moving things around causes problems.

They didn't think when they did this, and we have all suffered from it since. Now it has come to an end, sadly it took 20 years.

The answer is here, you just have to embrace it and move on.

ExecDQL!

The attached sample show you how simple it is (LabelExecDQL).

Re:Re:Summary Value Displayed Multiple Times in DE8.5

I see that. It is pretty much like DFD.

But, this will only work in 8.5 right?

Do you recommend using this version in production?

Re:Re:Re:Summary Value Displayed Multiple Times in DE8.5

Of course it only work in 8.5 and only in the last versions too ;-)

I understand the question, for such a long time DFW was just a discovery and re-discovery of existing functionality but since the start of 8.0 we have ADDED functionality. So it is important to have the latest version when trying out the functionaltiy.

You can check in the blog when any given functionality was added, but the safest is to simply use the last.

We have recommended 8.5 in production for 6 months. We basically "released" 8.5 simply because it was such a leap forward from 8.2 and we wanted to signify that. Most people have used 8.5 for months already and is why we have already published the 8.5 Group.

As we aim for 8.5 to be the "final" 8.x version we are holding back on the full release till we have finished development which is planned to be this summer, then we will "spruce" it up, include the new licensing engine and release it this autumn together with the new website.

Re:Re:Re:Re:Summary Value Displayed Multiple Times in DE8.5

Probably, I didn't ask the question right.

What I mean was, if I release a converted (DFD to DE8.5) application to a client. After a while, does it stop working as it is beta still? And I have to update it for the latest version? In other words, is it timed version of 8.5?

Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Summary Value Displayed Multiple Times in DE8.5

GROUP is never timed, except when you use a Trial Key.

The BETA developer is ALWAYS timed to make sure it goes out of circulation.

We always compile a full version too which is not timed, but this is not "generally" available but we let people have it on request.

That means I cannot deliver Beta developer version to my clients.....
