Hi David.

I have a feeling that maybe some of your explanation of what you want has gone missing here ;-)

But we can answer on general terms.

It is not a big secret that for most DataEase users there has never been any real way to publish a live webform on a active DataEase system. There has been plenty of theoretical ways like WebPublisher, OLEDB, ODBC etc. but for all practical purposes these has either been too expensive, limited and awkward in any combination of those words.

We here in DataEase land has had DG3 for over 4 years now which to be honest is to DataEase 8.5 what Enterprise Developer/NetPlus used to be to Express/DFW 5.x.

With DG3 you can develop state of the art web solution directly on top of  your live DE85 application.

The problem with DG3 is that it is to advanced and too complex so it is not a retail product and never will be.

Our goal is to be DataEase, not DataAdvaced or DataDifficult so we won't retail software that doesn't fall into this category.

DG3 has been our laboratory where we research the future of DataEase and based on the experience from this work we publish targeted DataEase product that will fulfil our ambition of DataEase Infrastructure.

This simply mean that all your DataEase applications in "all" versions should be able to talk to each other and share information. This way you don't have to waste time on migration/conversion but rather on new development.

For those that has followed our development over the last years would have realised by now that we don't believe that the rigid ways of DFW is the way forward and that the future is - you guessed it - web/html based.

We already use a lot of HTML in DE85 but there is on problem that limit you still and that is DataEase itself. DataEase is a local file based database so if you want to go all the way to the web - we own the domain GoAllTheWeb.com by the way - then you need a proper server that serve both data and html available on port 80 on your server.

This is DataEase Server and DataEase Server with LegEasy Connect.

This means that you can host web pages that read/write directly from your DE85 tables as well as run DQL's as stored procedures (or on the fly).

DataEase Server and DataEase Server with LegEasy Connect is not some pipe dream but products we use in-house already and they will together with the new web based editors for forms/DQL/Reports etc. be the fundament in the next generation of DataEase products.

But you won't have to wait that long, we will publish them alongside DE85 to be used in conjunction with DE85 and LegEasy4DOS Professional.

We hope that some of the stuff above will be helpful with what you are trying to do, but if not please contact us/reply and we will try to put you in the right direction.
