Hi DataEase, we often use the function "delete documents" but I have the possibility to type only 1 letter in order to find the document to delete.

I have a very large catalog and many of the objects start with letter "T". It will be very useful to type almost 3 or 4 character to find exactly the documents to delete.

We have a joke around here that the test application that has been used in the past is a Database with one table with one column and one record.

We think that at times it is not far from the truth and at least a lot of the time the person developing/fixing don't really use DataEase in "harms way".

This is something that has changed radically over the last years but still there is a lot of "stupid" mistakes that cause problems for the users.

This might not be the biggest problem for most users, but as the fix is small and easy there is no reason why it shouldn't be fixed.

The problem is simply down to the default functionality of the control used to display the documents. In Document Open it use one that allow you to search specifically when in delete document it use one that will jump around for each letter pressed.

So the fix is simply to switch the control type and it all works the same way i.e. type ahead.

in the attached file the problem is fixed and it should work as you want. 

The fix is also included in 8.6 onwards but as this version is not yet available we have released the last 8.5 DERESDLG.D85 with the fix. The only thing one need to do to get it is to replace the existing DERESDLG.D85. 

the "download" does not work.

Sorry. Spelling mistake in path. 99.9% of the time we create a download we check it after if it works and it always does.... but the one time you don't it doesn't. Not that we are superstitious or anything...

We only do changes to the latest release. The entire point in making new releases is tor improve the product.

If we started to do changes to previously released products we would iopen a can of worms. 

If there is any reason why people have to use an older version we need to know what that is and fix that in the latest release rather than trying to maintain a multitude of versions.
