DataEase 8.5 won't open

We use DataEase 8.5 for our records database and everything was working properly until this past Tuesday morning. At the start of the day, I was unable to reach the login prompt or our startup menu. When I click on the application, all I get is a blank screen with File and Help options in the top left corner.  If I click on File and then Open Application, nothing happens, the screen stays blank. Could you possibly tell me what may be causing this issue?

Re:DataEase 8.5 won't open

Yes, i think so.

I gather that you normally start DataEase from an icon that goes directly to login?

The problem is that the application is no longer reachable in the path indicated on the icon.

There is a "bug" in DE8 that if you try to open an application that has already failed to open it will try to open this application again and the same problem will repeat.

The way to get around this is to select New Application and then in the dialog choose Open application and browse for the application.

You can also start DataEase directly without a startup applicaiton i.e. not from your App icon but from the DE icon.

But the problem is really that the application is "gone".

Either the RDRRxAAA.RDR file is corrupt or missing or the path is no longer valid.

If it runs on a Network drive make sure the network is properly configured etc.

Hi Bonnie.

There is amble documentation on this website both in the help section/blog and the Forum.

8.5 is designed so that you should not need to do any network settings at all.
