Form Open Related using Numbers and Numeric Strings

I have found that when a Form Open Related uses a Numeric String for its relationship it works fine but when it uses a Number it gives an error 401 Setting Selection Filter error (Derivation formulae in fields appear to work successfully for both types).

Is this simply a by-product of enhancements to DataEase or is it a bug?

Re:Form Open Related using Numbers and Numeric Strings

I am wondering if it is something to do with the length of the field - 3 digits appears to work but 5 characters (ie. which would possibly include the comma) does not.

Hi Peter

I think your observation is correct.

FormOpenRelated based on the SaleRef (number)....up to 999 works ok.

If based on the Sale No, which is a numeric string 99999 - works always.

So best is to create a primary key - unique as numeric string.

Josef

or else you can use UniqueID() which generates a unique 16 digit alphanumeric code

Re:Re:Form Open Related using Numbers and Numeric Strings

The problem is related to windows configuration. If you have thousand separator it will fail.
