DE85 use the IE version installed on your computer. Sadly YouTube no longer support IE.

thx a lot. one more issue with the example yet. in table view DataEase has infinite loop and is not responding to any click or key pressed. if delete the field named Manipulator simply the example seems to be ok ...but youtube is the main link ... is it possible to change IE in the 8.5 inside ... ?

This functionality is created for Form view and won't be a good idea to use it in table view. Strictly speaking these fields shouldn't even be present in a table view.

We are replacing IE with Edge in DE10 but its not a straightforward job as nothing is with MS Windows.

One of the main problem is that we don't use IE as such but the Plugin and the same goes for Edge. One of the reason we had to push this onwards to DE10 and not DE9 is that the plugin is not fully functional in this setting yet.

IE is synchronous wile Edge is Asyncronus so the interaction between DE and IE/EDGE is different and hence DE need to work more asynchronous too.

- is it possible to change 8.5 source code to make WebField Visual Control of Field2 in the example mentioned be not related to IE but to the browser marked as default in Windows ?

Good thoughts but its not that easy.

The problem with Windows - as you know very well - is that its developed by MS and as all proprietary eco systems IE and Edge now is basically a a in integral part of the OS. Skype for instance is using a IE web engine and a lot of the newer MS stuff use EDGE as a graphics engine. 

We looked into using Chrome as part of DE10 rather than Edge but as Chrome has focus on Android etc. the support etc was less and the complication more than using EDGE which basically is Chrome(ium) but where MS has done the hard work.

A web object is not just a plugin where you see a browser, it is an integral part of the product and we have two way communication between the web objects and DataEase.

Hi again dear friends! as it was promised the battle with MS policies tunning to redirect from IE to other browsers finished by revolutionary decision. while win11 loses with amount of installations against win 10 and win7 worldwide it was decided to use www.dataease.com link in that example in de 8.5 and no links besides it at all. this example will be DE 8.5 educational tool. this was written under DE 8.5 in that example. so all things on the official sites are here in DE 8.5.
