de8 CRM sample
thx a lot for le9 6697 08//07/24. we are using CRM sample as a template for mapping missile shellings .. it works a bit in 3d and 2d modes but for a moment then screen with browser option to download appears. what is appropriate alternatives to google maps are in the case. thanks in advance. Glory to DataaEase team!
This is an old sample created a decade ago and not included in LE9.
it was a quick thing we knocked together to showcase some of the new stuff in DE8 and as happy we are for the fact that you found it useful most of the techniques and methodology used in it has long since been improved and can be done much better in later version of DE8 like 8.5 and definitely in LE9/DE9.
The sample is completely open and anyone can "steal" or use any part of it.
DataEase is a development tool where the customer use it to derive their own solutions. The Google maps sample is there to show how one can integrate a website with an app, there is also pure WebFields where the content is rendered as a web page which is used for Editors, graphs or whatever the imagination will allow you to want to do.
We make the features available give you a taste of how you can use it but we don't put the limits on it and we very often is impressed by how some customers take advantage of the features in ways we hadn't even imagined.
That google maps have decided to not support IE11 anymore is their prerogative but the problem is that this become a problem for a DataEase developer.
I hope that if you use the CRM sample as rudimentary as it is you will have changed it quite dramatically already. I've used it as a template many times and as this previewing of maps is mostly just a demo thing without any real value in an address book I've mostly just removed it as I definitely don't need/want the message.
However if I wanted a map displayed I would simply take a quick "google search", find alternatives to Google Maps and test if they work in the IE11 object.
And many of them didn't as graphical stuff is one of the things that has gone "native" in modern browsers and hence if they use native functions that was not around in IE11 it won't work.
But who is most likely to keep backwards compatibility with a Microsoft browser that has been around for "Millions" of years?
Microsoft...
So the Bing maps works perfectly and most likely will work for quite some time before it get obsolete.
There is also plenty of offline maps engines that can be downloaded and use locally that will never be obsolete (other than the maps maybe being obsolete in themselves).

What is this supposed to mean?
still trying ti replace google string with bing ... please help to get correct final code to see the bing map instead of google one. thank You ..
what about DuckDuckGo or even Yandex maps (vpn is needed in Ukraine now)
Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:Re:de8 CRM sample
You can use any weblink you want. This type of field just load an url that can be derrived in normal DataEase way. concat etc.
You also have memo webfields that resolve the HTML stored/computed in a field etc. but that is another story.
The only thing we did in the Google sample was to create a google URL with the post code etc. So its very easy to do.
The map has nothing to do with the field type, it is just a way to illustrate the use.
concat("https:\\mymaps.com?Postcode=",postcode) or something like that.
It will work with any map or any website/link etc.
We don't do the research or integration with any specific map/website, we simply develop the technology, show some simple samples and then we leave it to you to figure out how to implement it the way you want.

Excellent! Thank You very much!
For sure that is our turn to use those features like DQL for DFD in AI mode, sorry< Automatic Inserting> way not in usual symbol by symbol coding of the statements. naturally the form and fields design as in DFD too.
is that DFD mode of "coding" possible in *E9 to get for web oriented purposes, including whatever maps ?
thx
