DataEase 8.1 is slower than 6.52 when I save a big table

I'm doing some testing on Dfw 8.1.1.1464 now, I'm just comparing this version with dfw 6.52.Ho an application with

a table with 900,000 records with many fields and virtual. This application has been migrated to the version 8.1 DFW Well if I remove one of the virtual fields and save the 6:52 version of this operation is very fast while in version 8.1 is very slow. Of course when I did this in version 8.1 I removed the environment variables necessary for DataEase version 6.52. Please note that all configuration options are identical and the environment is the same for the 2 versions. What can I look for to make this operation faster in version 8.1.
Regards and thank you

Hi Marco.

1. If you are doing this on a local drive (c:/d: etc) the problem is most likely that you run Shared Local Database in 8.1 when 6.x is running Single User mode. This means that DE8 is running locking operations on local drive, when 6.x is not. What makes this even slower is most likely that you are running the default locking from 6.x (full or basic).

Shared Local Database is working fast if you use Opportunistic Locking which is the recommended locking strategy for all DE applications now.

2. If the problem is on a network drive, just switch to Opportunistic Locking and you should see dramatic increased performance.
