This is put on a list but as this code has not been touched more or less since 7.x it's not a priority.

Importing from DataEase files is an obsolete functionality as most people export data for import rather than exchange database files.

In DFD you can use abstraction or you can put in a full printer name or yuou can leave the printer name and will then need to select priinter when you print (this is in the "DOS" bit).

Re:DataEase 8.5 menus corrupt

The problem is most likely with the Status Table for Menu's. Menus use that as a "virtual" table so one can have virtual fields in Menus.

Status tables are in 7 and 8 automatically mantained on startup and this sometimes go haywire.

Re:Dataease 4.5.3 Import problems ANSI, UTF-8 etc

If characters sets was a nightmare in the 80s, they are no less of a nightmare in the 2020s when you try to use a 8 bit one.

DataEase for DOS can in principle use any 8 bit codepage and read/write exactly what you "serve" it and there is no tra...

Re:Dataease 4.5.3 Import problems ANSI, UTF-8 etc

Are you sure those characters are incorrect, it isn't just the codepage in NTVDM defaulting to 437 instead of for instance 1252 (German)? So the characters are just displayed incorrectly.

We have a customer who we've been dealing with for about 35 years and they still use DataEase! :-)

They had a DataEase database written for them way back and they still want to use it going forward. Over the years we've managed to...

Re:DataEase for DOS - list of DQLs appears to be corrupt

You can try to do a native (dataease) backup/restore. That will reorganize the system files.

There is ways this can be fixed manually by editing the report repository but that is a specialist task....

If not this is a revert to earlier b...

When you say Application Definition, what are you thinking of.

Its not a DataEase term.

Is it an entire application of a part of it like RDRR which is the repository or Application Objects which has all the documents etc?
