Encountered that issue.  In my case it always happened when the PC had pending windows updates.  Do the updates, and it will install correctly.

This is possibly not the most recent version of 8.5?

The problem is mess with the Microsoft MSVC re-distributables. Download the latest version. Unistall the current version. Reboot the computer and install the latest version.

The latest version of LE9 soon to be released will contain a DEOS("@pdfconcat") that will allow you to merge 8 PDFs into one PDF. We are also looking into further PDF manipulations like adding page numbers, an index etc.

This is not LegEasy4DOS related but standard DFD problem. You can only reorganize this from the System Menu so you need either to have included this in your user menus or you need to login with a system user that goes straight to the systems menu.

It's any DataEase user.  When in Developer, I can open any form but when I open a menu, it hangs again.  But the same menu is used on every body elses PC.  When I logged the user out of the PC and used another user, it loaded fine.

Yes on one PC.  Today I uninstalled both versions.  Then logged the user out and logged in as a different user.  Installed and it worked.  Went back to the original user and it doesn't work.

Understand index and virtual field use in DataEase

Indexes is mostly "abused" in DataEase. People think the more the better, but they will only work if used right.

As a general rule indexes will make searching faster and saving slower. 

But...

DataEase will only use an index...

das ist fantastisch! what about of reindexing time in the case then ? for sure, DataEase isn't a simple mechanism and the golden rule of mechanics is not about of 7000000 records with amount of fields more than 1... thx  a lot for the this amazin...

The problems is always related to change. If you start of developing a system you will design it so it runs OK with the limitations you have at the time. Then when it goes slow, you will clean the system/delete unnecessary data, buy better hardware et...

agree, yup, this is not my personal opinion BUT! this is not old good days too. This is present day trend. SSD's productivities tends to RAM's ones.

Modern OSes are handling hardware equipped with wise chips and present day operating system...

For sure, no VMware,  no windows, only DataEase OS, shortly DOS. 

No disks, no files and etc.

So to increase speed:

  • Consult VMWare resources on how to increase speed on I/O.
  • Check if there is Virus software monitoring file access on your Application Drive. If there is EXCLUDE it. DataEase files does not contain viruses and...

When you run DataEase on a shared file server the "challenge" is file access and throughput i.e I/O.
 
So the main problem is disk access, not memory etc.

So quick disks, controllers etc. is what is the crux of the matter.

There is no tool that open them and export the content as such. 

We have a service on our shop where we export all the data in an application.
