What version of TLS is used by SendEmail?

Hi

As of October 31, 2018, Office 365 will no longer support TLS 1.0 and 1.1. Reference

Please can you confirm which version of TLS is used by the SendEmail command?

I don't want to find that our DE8.5 application can no longer send emails after the end of October...

Regards

Jon

Re:What version of TLS is used by SendEmail?

SendEmail is a third party software included in DE8 to faciliate sending emails directly from DE8. This feature will be replaced in DE9 with native IMAP/SMTP/POP support for two way email communication.

SenEmail.exe is no longer supported by the publisher and the last version (included in 8.5) was released in 2009.

We have tried to establish which version of TLS it supports but as TLS 1.2 was released in 2008 it is possible that it support 1.2.

However what happens on the 31st October is not that TLS 1.0 and 1.1. will stop working in Office 365 but microsoft will no longer fix errors etc so one can assume that it will stop working some time in the future.

Note! This doesn't mean Office 365 will block TLS 1.0 and 1.1 connections. There is no official date for disabling or removing TLS 1.0 and 1.1 in the TLS service for customer connections. The eventual deprecation date will be determined by customer telemetry and is not yet known. After a decision is made, there will be an announcement six months in advance unless we become aware of a known compromise, in which case we may have to act in less than six months to protect customers who use the services.

So you can relax and continue to use SendEmail as before for the foreseeable future.

PS! You don't use Office 365 when sending with SendEmail. You send directly via your SMTP provider.
