LE9/DE9 is one of the biggest updates ever in DataEase history.


Its split in two simply due to the difficulty of sustaining backwards compatibility when the history is 40 years, so the focus in LE9 is to support existing Legacy applications...

physically damaged files can't be backed up ... in some cases it's impossible to restore previously backed up files ,,, fingers crossed won't help too, sorry. that is why huge db have to be reduced asap

As an update, a DataEase Backup and Restore cleaned up the duplicate. All looks ok now, but it will require further testing. Fingers crossed....

I've started with DE 2.53RU since 1989 ;) data-entry form in DQL was that feature attracted my attention hypnotically ... It is hard to recollect what is domain in DE sense now. A clustered database store the data in the order its sorted which in reality is very impractical if the data isn't static.

maybe DE 4.24E, i.e. English version is available instead of Ukrainian ... that ancient IBM monster keeps a lot of secrets on its SCSI hard disk but no "alive" ports and other output devices to get info from it to send via email to DataEase team...

If you want it to work "as is" the best way is to print to a null device.

The best way of solving this in 8.5 is to run it as an ExecDQL which is both faster and give no output whatsoever if you don't want it to.

Nothing that can be done I'm afraid. But beware that if you add objects in front of old objects you can "jumble" the object order.

LE6 is basically "as is" to run in WIndows x64 but there is not development...

I zipped the file without closing it in LE6 so the RDRR file was locked.

You can do this without problem in LE9 so we are not used to it anymore...

When it comes to events things are quite different between LE6 and LE9 and also from DE6 to DE7 to DE8.

The ValueLoaded() and ValueChange() events was called as the same while the ValueLoaded() now is called when you open a new record and first...

You can't use DEOS in LE6 as it doesn't have the function.

Almost everything in DE6 had to be resolved with CDF's when in DE9 you don't have to resort to use CDFs for almost anything.

Putting RecordSaveAsNew() on a ValueLoaded event is not a good idea. 

THe problem here is most likely that the event is called more than once and I'm pretty sure it will be called when you save a NewRecord so this is something that need to...

The CDF's should work the same in LE9 as in LE6 but you might have to copy the libraries used from where they are installed in your DE6 installation.

The best way to migrate is go via DE8 and then move to LE9 from there as the testing is always...
