DE 8 export to Microsoft Word

You say in your answer to my earlier question regarding Dataease Reporter

"DE8 Reporter is reporting/printing much more en-par with DFD, but will of course include be a modern product with PDF printing/emailing/WYSIWYG formatting/Charts/Graphs/Images etc. You will however be also be able to generate pure text reports (ala DFD) and exports etc"

I use DFD 4.53 for my database solutions at the moment but I am looking to DE 8 and/or DE Reporter for a better solution. My reports are currently saved in *.doc format and edited in Word; will DE 8/ DE Reporter allow me to export to Microsoft Word and allow me to edit, play about with formatting / styles etc.

Re:DE 8 export to Microsoft Word

Firstly you won't have to export it to word to edit it, you can simply do that directly in DE8 but if one want to use Word it is easy.

DE Reporters like DG3 is basically Text oriented. I.e. everything is really just text documents. So the native format for DE Reporter is text like DFD, but the operational format is HTML.

This is the same as we use in DE8 for Memo fields. Native format Text and then Operational format is at the moment HTML/DQL/XML/Text.

In DE8 we use HTMLEdit over Memo fields extensively to build documentes and to edit them in "situ". You can then print them via the HTML object or save them to file and continue editing them in Word.

Any document with the outer tags <HTML></HTML> will be opened as HTML in Word and you can then save it as DOC or DOCX when you are finished.
